JAMES WATCHED Tenzing leaving the dinner table, then looked up at Falling Star. He made a disbelieving face, and James quietly giggled.

“Tenzing is in a weird mood.”

“What are you two talking about?” Kun asked as he walked up and leaned his bulbous head into the conversation. He stared at them with unblinking eyes.

“Nothing,” James said.

“I hope you aren’t worried about this action we’re taking against the US government and Paragon.”

“I’m not,” James said and turned to face Kun.

“How about you, Falling Star?”

The yeti prince shook his head and smiled.

“Good. You have nothing to worry about. Once all the Heroes are in their places in the circle, I will channel your combined powers through the Eye of the Keeper. We will be unstoppable.” Kun lifted the medallion and its dark crystal up in front of him. It glimmered in the pale light from the spaceship’s walls. “Paragon have no idea what’s coming for them.”

“I’m just excited to get started,” James said. “I want to free the prisoners Paragon is keeping against their will and experimenting on.”

“We’ll take care of all of them,” Kun said and patted James lightly on the shoulder. “I’ll see you two in the Circle.”

“We’ll be there.”

As Kun turned to leave, James asked, “Paul is the last Hero, right? Did he make it back from the Hidden Mountain?”

“Paul will be there at the Circle, too,” Kun said, smiled, and walked away.

“Lumen is not going to like that,” James said.

“Maybe she won’t notice?” Falling Star asked.

“Won’t notice?” James replied. “It would be hard not to notice Paul.”

“Well, we don’t have to tell her right away.”

“I guess not, but she’s not going to be happy,” James said, shaking his head.
